What the Days After Actually Look Like
Short downtime is microneedling's biggest practical advantage over deeper resurfacing. Here's the honest version.
About 30 minutes of treatment
A topical numbing cream is applied first, so most patients describe the session as tolerable — a vibration and light scratching sensation. You'll leave flushed, like a workout or mild sunburn.
Redness fades, skin feels tight
Standard microneedling settles within 24–48 hours; RF runs 2–3 days with some swelling. Most people are back to normal — and back to makeup — inside two days.
Collagen rebuilds underneath
The visible change isn't immediate. Texture and scarring improve progressively as new collagen forms, which is exactly why the sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
The one rule: no retinol, exfoliating acids, or direct sun while you're healing. New skin is vulnerable, and sun exposure during recovery is the fastest way to undo what you just paid for.
